Clinical Psychology Services

Penguin, TAS

About me

I am a clinical psychologist originally from Tasmania, having recently moved back after living in Brisbane for 8 years.

The North West has been a special place for me across many chapters. I have resonated with North-Western Tasmania, the Inner North-West of Brisbane, and the Pacific North West of the US. These places have their own unique depth, ruggedness, character and vibrance that I am so fond of.

From my North-Western frame, you can expect warmth, kindness, and compassion in my therapeutic work. A healthy sense of humour is balanced by comfort with rough emotional terrain and a gentle and patient interpersonal style - symbolically aligned with the North West and its resonance.

Currently, Medicare covers $145.25 per session for clinical psychology services. For concerns related to body image, eating, weight or shape, you may be eligible for up to 40 Medicare rebates in a calendar year.

You can access Medicare supported services through obtaining a referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan or an Eating Disorder Treatment Plan from your general practitioner.

    Privately Funded Therapy

If you are not eligible for Medicare supported therapy or you do not wish to receive Medicare rebates, you may pay for your therapy sessions privately.

If you have private health coverage, you may be eligible for rebates. You can check with your individual provider.

My Approach

I have 4 years experience in working with people with all sorts of challenges. These include mood concerns such as depression and anxiety, interpersonal issues, neurodiversity, personality vulnerabilities, life transitions (including grief), perinatal mental health and eating disorders. I often find myself working with people who have had difficult family histories - giving rise to chronic struggles around sense of self, relationships, relational issues, and ongoing difficulty with building a functional and balanced, integrated life. I generally work on a longer term basis with people hoping to make such progress.

My focus is on individual psychotherapy for adults. I do not provide formal assessment, reports (including medicolegal) or services under third party payers.

I practice predominantly from an Attachment-Focused Psychodynamic approach.

Psychodynamic therapy is a depth-oriented therapy approach that aims to support people in developing inner capacities to cope well and learn to better understand themselves and their needs.

In psychodynamic therapy, treating symptoms often comes second to treating the person which can support long-lasting, structural change in support of the self.
